Der Kuss


To kiss — to make contact with the lips — is often a sign of friendship or affection. In this respect it is seen as a Western gesture of intimacy and is not, therefore, observed in all cultures. The target of the kiss is not of course restricted to the mouth and can be directed to any part of the body. The use of the kiss can also be seen as a religio-erotic symbol. The kiss of life and the kiss of death, are the extreme life forces which have become powerful symbols for writers and artists. By the sixteenth century, authors were using the kiss and death as sexual metaphors. The kiss, both given and stolen, is romanticized in poetry and prose. A number of modern-day artists and writers have used kissing as a powerful and symbolic form of friendship, intimacy, and sexual activity.
 
Küssen - die Berührung durch die Lippen - gilt als Zeichen für Zuneigung und Freundschaft. In diesem Zusammenhang ist es dem westlichen Verständnis von Intimität zugeordnet. Geküsst wird nicht nur der Mund. Der Kuss ist aber auch ein religiöses und religiös-erotisches Symbol. Der Kuss des Lebens und der Kuss des Todes haben als machtvolle Symbole in den Arbeiten von Künstlern Eingang gefunden. Ab dem 16.Jahrhundert wurden Kuss und Tod als erotische Metapher verwendet, und in Poesie und Prosa romantisiert dargestellt. Eine Reihe von modernen Künstlern verwendet den Kuss als umfassendes Symbol von Freundschaft, Liebe und (erotischer) Intimität.

the diverse facets of intimacy: the project 06/2009 - 02/2010


"Intimacy" is an exhibition in which various people present the diverse facets of intimacy...that is what I thought at least. I wanted to show you what you can see with our kiss photographs: a glance, a kiss, ect...much more intimate than being naked or sex. That is how the "project" started. You can check contributions uploaded by several couples by clicking the photographs at the right. The "résumé" will be published as part of the show in march, 2010 Juliet and Kevin

"Intimität" ist eine Ausstellung, in der verschiedene Leute verschiedene Aspekte von Intimität präsentieren. So hab ich mir das gedacht...naja, und ich wollte eben diese Seite zeigen, die Du auf unseren Kuss-Fotos siehst: Ein Blick, ein Kuss usw... intimer als Nacktsein oder Sex. Daraus ist "Das  Projekt" geworden. Klick auf die Fotos rechts, da kannst Du Uploads von verschiedenen Paaren sehen. Das "Resümee" folgt im März als eigenständiger Ausstellungs-Beitrag.
